This class will focus on the basics that everyone needs to know, and understand, to have a solid grasp of the literary terms and devices that they will use throughout life. We will work through the parts of a story, sentence structure, figurative language, rhetorical analysis, logical fallacies and more! We will read poetry, short stories and novels, learn to annotate various writings, including The Gettysburg Address, and analyze literature with sticky notes. This class will have some writing assignments but it will really focus on understanding, and practicing, the concepts listed above. Grading – Workbook assignments, writing assignments and various activities will be used to determine grades.
