Using current events, this elective course focuses on world, federal, state, and local issues that affect students’ everyday lives, such as economics, government, social issues, and conflict. This course uses newspapers, online media, cartoons, and newscasts to support class discussion. We will analyze the different viewpoints. Students will learn about biased material, fact checking, and more. News isn’t always pleasant so some issues may be sensitive (school shootings for example).
