In this elective class we will study a wide variety of movies from classics, to critically acclaimed, to current award winners. There will be discussions about the story, acting, and the actual filming of each movie. We will also study a few well-known directors and their specific style of film making. Everyone is a critic and we will be putting that to the test! Film reviews will be analyzed with everyone delivering one themselves. Students will even make a short film of their own, individually or with a partner/group. This will be a fun, discussion-based class! Homework – Watching/taking notes on the movies, occasional other assignments, film project. Grading – Participation and assignments. Required materials – Access to the movies, and then a phone or device to film with for the project. *Note - A variety of movie types will be used although not all movies will be watched in their entirity. Movies may have foul language and mature themes but we will not watch scenes with any form of nudity.*
