You just turned 18 and suddenly you are an adult. Maybe you can write a paper, remember the dates for World War 2, know the scientific method and quadratic equations. But what about how to change a tire, how often to change the oil, how to set up utilities for your first apartment, go on an interview, write a resume, clean a toilet, put together Ikea furniture, how to use tools, prepare for a hurricane, balance a checkbook, what’s a checkbook?, TAXES!, loans vs leases, shop for groceries, plan and cook a meal, treat a cut or burn, put out a small fire, schedule appointments and phone etiquette, social etiquette, self-care, self-management, and the list could go on forever! In this class students will go through various units that cover a variety of items that we as adults are thankful that we know how to do, or wish someone would have taught us. It’s the time to make mistakes and LEARN from them when it won’t actually cost them the loss of a job, money, a relationship, and more. This class will be fun but also include valuable life skills. Homework – Various small assignments. Grading – Participation and assignments. Required materials – None, all materials will be provided.
