Description

If “a picture is worth a thousand words” then how much is a film worth?  Movies and documentaries give us a unique way to be immersed in a moment of history.  In this class students will watch movies/documentaries that showcase a variety of major battles and wars in history.  (Please note that many of these movies will be Rated R due to violence and/or language.  Every effort will be made to avoid those with nudity.)  We will use these to discuss how accurate they are to the real events that occurred, as well as how the film impacted the viewer’s perspective of that event.   In addition, this class will complement the History through Film class for those who take both.   Grading – Assignments, participation, quizzes, tests, etc.  Required materials – Access to the movies/documentaries.  Instructor provided materials – A binder with material on each battle/war that will be studied.
